Gaudi is known as one of the architects of Sagrada Familia which is a large unfinished minor basilica that I thought was a vampire mansion or something. It represents the holy family and sacred. The inner part of the architecture is quite colourful than other parts, but it is connected to the theme, because I think It is colourful inside because he tried to show it was sacred. During the extremely long construction period, Gaudi said "My client is not in a hurry." When Gaudí died in 1926, the basilica was between 15 and 25 percent complete. The architecture shows Gaudi's unique style in one architecture but as a result of the halt in construction due to the coronavirus pandemic,
sagrada familia is not finished.
Frank Gehry is known for Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. It is curved as Douglas Cardinal’s architectures but unique design made the building famous. Many people valued this architecture as a monument to modernism, the unique architecture of the space, with its spiral ramp riding to a domed skylight. I think I remember a news article about this architecture that says this architecture reflects light so people can be blinded but I still love this design because of smooth satisfying curves and perfectly sharp edges. Frank Gehry would have aimed for collaboration between perfect sharp edges and smooth curves that makes viewers satisfied.
Douglas Cardinal is known for the Canadian Museum of History, National Museum of the American Indian and his flowing architecture marked with smooth curvilinear. Canadian Museum of History is a national museum on anthropology, Canadian history, cultural studies, and ethnology in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. Like Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Douglas Cardinal’s work also shows the beauty of curves.
My statue, the “Legend of mask”, shows a meaning that we need to use the mask so we can overcome the coronavirus. Also that statue is aiming at the "overcoming" not just only covid-19 and the mask so it also has meaning to overcome hard c
hallenges. I was about to make my mask statue flat but impressed by Douglas Cardinal and Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum Bilbao I made my mask curved to make my viewers feel satisfied and stable. I also changed the bottom part of the statue to look like a skeleton, inspired by the eiffel tower. For the inner part I used different colours to show the sacred, inspired by Gaudi.
