Today's month of the year comes the greatest movie review and not just because its near the holidays.
For this project I had went onto Netflix and watched 2015's rap movie "Straight Outta Compton". In my inhale work I annotated the meanings in the movie and made a character development page for one of the many main characters Ice Cube. My goal when starting this project was to explore texts from a perspective or P.O.V different from my own. I Think I did good on seeing this movie from a different perspective and I tried seeing this as one of the main characters of the movie.

Summary.
In this movie, a rap group called NWA emerges from the streets of Compton in Los Angeles, California, around the mid-1980s which revolutionized hip-hop and rap culture with their music about their life in the "hood". The group of young men use their brutally honest rhymes and some hardcore beats to make some hit songs.
The group first starts in Dre’s aunt’s house. After making their first hit album "Eazy-Duz-IT" they start getting famous but that still doesn't stop the racist cops from arresting them for no reason other than their looks. This inspires the group to write a song "F**k The Police" which is about police brutality but before performing it on a live stage tour they get stopped by police telling them they could not perform the song even though they had freedom of speech. The group doesn't let that stop them so they still perform it but soon after they get stopped backstage by police which arrests the group.
After their performances, NWA starts getting famous and popular and making lots of money, but Ice Cube realizes that he hasn’t gotten his fair share of money and so he approaches Jerry to talk about it when Jerry talks about the company being owned by Eazy-E and that it’s not a group owned company Ice Cube leaves NWA to make his own group "Westside Connection." Westside Connections album in 1996, "Bow Down" went platinum the year of its release. Dr. Dre soon after Ice Cube left Dre did the same and the company was called "Death Row Records" which almost ended NWA. Towards the end of the movie Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E decide to group up back together and make "Aftermath Records" right before Eazy-E faints and wakes up in the hospital and the doctor tells him he is diagnosed with AIDS. After this happened he fell into a coma where everyone visited and talked to Eazy-E on his deathbed when he eventually dies and goes crazy on the news with many people holding candles when the movie ends.

My Opinion.
Straight Outta Compton is a great movie especially if you like NWA or anyone in the group. It really is worth the while watching just because of its intriguing true story of their life in Compton. I also really enjoyed this movie because its hood, police brutality scenes keeps me on edge because you don't know what could happen for example there’s gang fights, people get jumped and all shots go off and police and arrest people. Two is because the characters and acting are amazing and the music and live stages were so cool seeing how they really are. There are so many more great things about the movie you just have to see yourself. The movie that is based on N.W.A is definitely up there in my favourite movies and I would definitely recommend this movie to you if you haven’t watched it yet.
