"Lord of the Rings" Samwise Gamgee Character Development Analysis.

Looking into how this beloved character changes and grows through the three movies.

For my inhale I watch the entirety of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and took notes on Samwise Gamgee's character development. My goal was to interpret and explain the qualities and motivations of a character. One thing I was proud of was the drawing that I did and how it look like Samwise Gamgee.

I watched and annotated the character of Samwise Gamgee from “Lord of the Rings”, then I drew that character. For my drawing, I chose to split the image in half and show one side with Samwise Gamgee at the beginning of the film and the other half to show him at the end of the film to represent.

I decided to make an image that represents him as a character where he almost looks worried because Sam is worried about Frodo throughout the film.

For colours, I did the colours he wore and in the background, I put green for representing the shire and black to represent Mordor. The rest of the details are the injuries and dirt, which replicate how it was a really hard journey over the movie and how the places they went were very dusty and sometimes dangerous. For his facial expression and stance, he was a little worried on the left side and almost mad on the right side because a lot of things bothered like Frodo trusting Gollum and even Gollum as a whole. Overall I tried to keep the style simple but realistic and the background dark to draw attention to Samwise gamgee.
